This year the 12th International Students’ Gathering, under the auspices of the Presidency of Republic of Turkey, which is projected to be held in 91 cities of 51 different countries, was recently held in Duzce.
The event that was organized by Duzce International Student Association, affiliated to UDEF, witnessed stands from 24 different countries. With these stands, students were able to introduce their traditional sports, dances and other belongings to the local public. The event was held at Anitpark Square, with the slogan of “For a Just World, From East to West”, in which several students from Chad, Burundi, Azerbaijan, Somalia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Iran and other countries participated.
Coskun Zabunoglu, President of Duzce International Student Association, in his inaugural speech said, “It is our main goal to have the students to own consciousness of universal brotherhood, to know the modern world order, to have high organizational capability, to be aware of the situation and requirements of their countries, to know the glorious of Islamic culture and history and to return to their countries as volunteer ambassadors of civilization.”
UDEF Internal Organizational Coordinator, Adnan Oguz addressed the event saying, “The presence of some 150 thousand international students in Turkey from 203 different countries is forming the center of the idea of ‘We Are One Nation’. This consciousness is formed by the contributions of our fellow international students. We as UDEF strive to be of utmost help to our international students, regardless of their country of origin.”
Governor of Duzce Zulkif Dagli, Duzce Commissioner Huseyin Deniz, Vice Rector Ilhan Genc, UDEF Internal Organizational Coordinator Adnan Oguz, UDEF Istanbul Organizational Coordinator Yunus Tatli, President of Mihmandar International Student Association Mehmet Evran, representatives from various NGOs and public attended the program that was unison of dozens of colors and cultures.
With the musical and traditional performances, the event seemed no less than a festival. Attendees were served with traditional delicacies of different countries.
